Francis is a church musician and the founder of NoteFusion. He started it to fix a problem every choir knows: a new song arrives, and before anyone can learn it, someone has to sit with a recording and write the solfa out by hand.
NoteFusion listens to a recording, a hummed tune or a song link and writes the melody in movable-doh Tonic Solfa — la-based for minor keys, the way choirs across Nigeria and West Africa read it — with the staff notation alongside, ready to share with the choir.
On this blog he writes about reading and teaching solfa, running rehearsals, and getting songs written down quickly and correctly. Questions and corrections are welcome at hello@notefusion.studio.
Three reliable ways to find the doh of a song: from the key signature, by ear, and by checking the tune. Plus minor keys, starting notes and key changes.
